Who we are

We’re not really in the travel business. We’re in the ‘you’ll never see it the same way again’ business.

Travel With Amen Ra began with a simple, stubborn belief: that this trip shouldn’t stay a dream. Our job is to bridge the gap — and make it real.

Why we exist

Most people meet Egypt through a headline. We’d like to introduce you properly.

A lot of travelers carry an idea of this part of the world that they didn’t choose — one assembled from news clips and other people’s fear. It’s rarely the Egypt that’s actually there: the warmth of the people, the ease of the days, the sense of standing inside a story that started six thousand years ago.

We built this company to close that gap. Not with a slideshow, but with the only thing that has ever really changed a person’s mind — being there.

So we measure ourselves a little differently than most operators. We care that the logistics are flawless, of course. But the trip is working when someone comes home and can’t quite explain how it rearranged them — when the place they’d been taught to fear becomes the place they can’t stop talking about.

That’s the whole job. Everything else — the hotels, the guides, the payment plans — is just how we get you to the door.

“The first time I came back to Egypt, I came back to who I was. I want that for you.”
Ramy walking with travelers down a sunlit Cairo street.
The founder

Ramy found his way back to Egypt. And stayed.

Ramy Abou El‑Oyoun is Egyptian by heritage and was raised mostly in the States — Egypt was a place he visited long before it was a place he lived. Then, during the pandemic, he moved back for good. The country he’d known as a guest became home. For years now he’s shown friends — and friends of friends — the Egypt he found: not the bus-tour version, but the neighborhoods, the late dinners, the guides who feel like family by day three.

Travel With Amen Ra grew out of those trips. The name is a nod to Amun-Ra — the sun, the source — and to the idea that a journey can return you to something essential in yourself.

“I’m not trying to sell you a vacation. I’m trying to hand you the Egypt I get to live in.”

Why Egypt

Because nowhere else makes you feel this small, and this welcome, at once.

Egypt is where written history begins — temples aligned to the sun, a river that has carried life for millennia, a museum-worth of wonder around every corner. It humbles you. And then a stranger hands you tea and it warms you right back up.

Egypt is where we go deepest — and, for now, most of what we do. We know where we’re headed next, and we’ll add it the moment we can do it this well: we’d rather know a place by heart than a dozen at arm’s length.

How we work

Three promises we actually keep.

01

Small on purpose.

We cap our groups and answer our own messages. You’re a guest, never a booking number.

02

Honest about money.

A $100 deposit holds your spot, then a simple payment plan. No fine print, no pressure.

03

Built around you.

Every itinerary starts from scratch, from a real conversation — not a brochure you have to fit into.
